He said it...

I had it pointed out to me that I had made some rather interesting posts on David Farrar's blog.

David is rabbiting on about how Helen is to blame regarding the problems with the NCEA.

In the comments section I apparently stated:

helen clark is right the government are not accountable for what nzqa do and thats that labour have done a great job with educationand you should all stop taking cheap shotsand the pm and her team.Posted by: conor at February 15, 2005 08:30 AM

A few things of note.

I am awake at 8:30am but not normally at a computer.

I always use a capital in my name as I am worth it.

I do not have an email address I always leave my proper email address for fanmail.

I write much wittier posts and comments than they one that some moron came up with and whilst not normally the best at spelling or punctuation I dont write like that.

Of course all the thinkers out there jumped on it:

And halt the presses again - a Labour Party activist declares Helen is right and that it should be illegal for people to criticise Helen and her team.
After all it is more important that people do not criticise Helen, than oh you know students actually have a fair qualifications system.Posted by David Farrar at February 15, 2005 08:36 AM
Jeez, in my day, the youth were ANTI-government, full of fire and spunk; not soft "stop being mean to our PM! We love our dear leader!" government stooges.Posted by Glenn at February 15, 2005 09:12 AM
Someone get conor a hanky and some councilling! After that attack on his Helen by the beastly Farrar he needs hugs and cuddles.Oh the humanity!Posted by James at February 15, 2005 09:43 AM

Is this going to be the death of blogs? when people have things attributed to them which they had nothing to do with? Come on, grow up.

  • Bloody hell, it got worse. I didnt read the whole comment section, but there is more crap futher on. Whoever you are, you are a complete loser.

    the point I am trying to make is that nationals record on education is terrible and labour are the only ones with the expertise to bring through our best and brightest and give them the high paying jobs they deserve.
    So stop this irrational logic,under labour students look like getting more like allowances equal to that of low income workers weekley wage I dont see the right changing that anytime soon.

    Posted by conor at February 15, 2005 10:58 AM

    Conor - National may be equally responsible for the NZQA fiasco, but what on earth have student allowances got to do with this debate? We're talking about school standards. Are you saying standards will somehow be higher in schools if university students get higher living allowances? Could you please explain your logic here? It would be illuminating.

    Posted by rightkiwi at February 15, 2005 11:06 AM
    Ah, Conor, the govt's going to give you more money so stop stuffing it up for you??? Is that what you are saying?

    So they really are buying votes, but the sad thing is that the amount they give you Conor, will be far less than what you could get in a free market, under a much lower tax system. Because once you start getting those high paying jobs that you think you deserve, you'll find that so much of it is taken by the govt that you'll feel like you're working for nothing.

    Posted by looke at February 15, 2005 11:09 AM
    That is a major reason why shouldnt students and our best get the larger slice of the cake after all we deserve that right for achieving academic excellence.
    It is an investment in the country as a whole and our high paying jobs will pay for social injustices.

    Posted by conor at February 15, 2005 11:19 AM
    Conor, if you're looking for a speechwriter's job for the Labour Party, you might want to start with punctuation.

    Posted by Glenn at February 15, 2005 11:19 AM
    Looke, student politicians like Conor (and most of their ilk) fail to realise that you will spend a good 40+ years of your life working in those high paying jobs once they graduate. 40+ years with the "debt" of high taxes around my neck was something I didn't want. I would rather have the short-term student loan because at least that can be paid off. High taxes are a debt that stays with you as long as you work.
    Why are student politicians such as yourself so short-termist in your thinking Conor? Can you not lobby for your future rather than just the present?

    Posted by Mike Collins at February 15, 2005 11:23 AM
    Alas, Conor, I still do not follow your argument. How does allowances paid to all (tertiary) students, regardless of effort/excellence, recognise the effort/excellence of (school) students?

    Posted by rightkiwi at February 15, 2005 11:25 AM

    well, Conner is the perfect example, of how indoctrination in schools is going for the labour party..

    My 5yold comes home, and you can see it in her eyes, and it's all to do with keeping the socilist dream alive in the children..

    Conner, please, please, see and learn from history..

    No socilist society has ever survived, and I am not saying that capatilist works either, but I know where I would rather be..

    Starlin or Churchill?? You decide..

    Posted by jo at February 15, 2005 11:38 AM

    Conor - so because Labour *may* increase student allowancs for tertiary students, this means they should not be criticised about the NCEA debacle. And we will overlook the huge increase in tertiary students under National.

    Tristam - I would just be happy if Helen would take responsibility for anything at all. Even her forgeries!

    Of course the PM is not responsible for all events of Govt, but for policy decisions such as not scaling and not delaying the implementation.

    And I would love to have details of how a loan can take 85 years to repay, unless you are planning on never working. How much is the loan?

    On a system such as blogger people have v. little control on who can comment, indeed I don't know how to stop people. The only thing that can be done is to delete comments once found.

  • The U.S. Government is the nation's largest provider of financial assistance to women & minority owned small businesses. The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is Congressionally mandated to assist the nation’s small businesses in meeting their financing needs. The SBA has small business loan programs and services to meet most small business needs. More information on U.S. Government Small Business Loans can be found at ****

    How do Government SBA Small Business Loans work?

    When a small business owner applies to a lending institution for a business loan, the lender reviews the application and decides if it merits a busiuness loan or if it requires an SBA guaranty. SBA backing on the business loan is then requested by the lender. In guaranteeing the business loan, the SBA assures the lender that, in the event the borrower does not repay the loan, the government will reimburse the lender for its loss. By providing this guaranty, the Small Business Administration helps tens of thousands of small business owners get financing they would not otherwise obtain.

    How much money can I borrow?

    Here are a few examples of what you can get from SBA small business loans programs:

    7(a) Loan Guaranty Program

    The 7(a) Loan Guaranty Program is the SBA's primary small business loan program. A maximum loan amount of $2 million has been established for 7(a) business loans.

    Low Documentation Loan (SBALowDoc)

    SBALowDoc is the SBA’s quick and easy program that provides a guaranty on small business loans of $150,000 or less. Once you have met your lender’s requirements for credit, the lender may request an SBALowDoc guaranty for up to 85 percent of the loan amount. You complete the front of a one-page SBA application, and the lender completes the back. At SBALowDoc centers, the agency processes completed applications within 36 hours.

    This method makes it easier and faster for lenders to provide small business loans of $250,000 or less. The SBA provides a rapid response through its PLP processing center in Sacramento, Calif.— within 36 hours of receiving the complete application package. Lenders use their own procedures to approve and service the loans.

    The CommunityExpress pilot program is designed to spur economic development and job creation in untapped rural and inner city communities by providing loans and technical assistance. Loan proceeds may be used for most business purposes, including start-up, expansion, equipment purchases, working capital, inventory or real-estate acquisitions.
    To be eligible for CommunityExpress, current or prospective small businesses must be located in low- and moderate-income urban and rural areas.

    While CommunityExpress is similar to SBAExpress, here are some differences:

    • CommunityExpress focuses on predesignated geographic areas that primarily low- and moderate-income urban and rural areas.

    • The maximum loan amount under CommunityExpress is $250,000.

    • CommunityExpress lenders, together with the National Community Reinvestment Coalition, provide hands-on technical training and support, both before and after loan closings, through community-based, nonprofit NCRC member organizations.

    7(m) Microloan Program

    The SBA’s Microloan Program provides very small loans up to $35,000 to small businesses and not-for-profit child-care centers through a network of locally based intermediary lenders. In addition to making the loans, the intermediaries provide management and technical assistance to microborrowers and potential microborrowers.

    What can I use the loan proceeds for?

    You can use an SBA small business loan to:

    • expand or renovate facilities;
    • purchase machinery, equipment, fixtures and leasehold improvements;
    • finance receivables and augment working capital;
    • refinance existing debt (with compelling reason);
    • finance seasonal lines of credit;
    • construct commercial buildings; and/or
    • purchase land or buildings.

    How do I repay the loan?

    The length of time for repayment depends on the use of the loan proceeds and the ability of your small business to repay the loan.The term is usually 5 to 10 years for working capital, and up to 25 years for fixed assets such as the purchase or major renovation of real estate or purchase of equipment. There are no balloon payments, prepayment penalties, application fees or points permitted with these small business loans. Repayment plans may be tailored to each individual small business.

    How do I get started?

    You submit a business loan application to a lender for initial review. If the lender approves the business loan subject to an SBA guaranty, a copy of the loan application and a credit analysis are forwarded by the lender to the nearest SBA office. After SBA approval, the lending institution closes the business loan and disburses the funds; you make monthly loan payments directly to the lender. As with any loan, you are responsible for repaying the full amount of the loan. Visit **** for more info.

  • Saw your blog about new york bankrupt - as it is along the same lines I thought I would share this link with you. We were paying far too much for family things like clothes for us and the kids, games consoles inc the new Wii and soon to be PS3, car insurance/home insurance/pet insurance, broadband, mobile phones, landline calls, home and garden items, camping equipment and utilities/loans etc - you name it, we were spending too much on it.

    Then a friend of mine recommended a site called We were able to get cheaper electricity, gas, mobile phone, broadband and loan deals at bargainplace. Thanks to my friend (and the site) I am saving something like £100 a month and can afford an extra holiday abroard each year. Booked of course on Thanks bargainplace ;-) !!
